    Wolfgang inspires celebrated choir

Aged just 26, Anthony is a graduate of Durham University, where he studied music as an organ scholar.  He is currently also assistant conductor at the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra and was selected to lead the choir earlier this year.

Choir member Matthew Crosse said: “Anthony has really brought the choir to life during his short time with us.

“His passion is infectious, his ability to communicate is remarkable and his warmup sessions at our weekly rehearsals always have us giggling!” The programme for the evening features Mozart’s very popular Exsultate Jubilate, sung by talented young soprano Charlotte Carter, and his Mass in C Major — known as the ‘Coronation Mass’.

The Uttoxeter Choral Society love performing Mozart and, of all the sacred works composed by him while at Salzburg, none is so popular as the Coronation Mass with its moments of both ceremonial solemnity and celebration.

The third work is the sublime German Mass by Franz Schubert. The sweetness of melody of this hymn-like work is guaranteed to draw the audience in and create a feeling of serenity.
