    Katie Riddle

    Katie was born in Leek, Staffordshire, and began having piano lessons with May Walley at the age of four. At the age of twelve she won the Staffordshire Moorlands Young Musician of the Year competition. Whilst studying for A levels in Music and languages at Newcastle-under-Lyme school, Katie attended Birmingham Conservatoire Junior School studying piano with Stephen Coombs and violin with David Joyce. During this time Katie gave solo and duo piano recitals and also performed with the Junior School Orchestra as both a pianist and violinist.

    Katie continued her piano studies at the Royal Northern College of Music where her piano tutors were Ka Kit Tam and Carole Presland. She later attained a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Studies from the RNCM studying with Martin Roscoe. Katie was awarded a major Scholarship from The Countess of Munster Musical Trust to assist her continuing studies in addition to awards from The Lynn Foundation, South Square Trust and The Charles and Elsie Sykes Trust.

    Katie has given solo recitals extensively throughout the Northwest. She also performs regularly with flautist Charlotte Walls for the registered charity Music In Hospitals. She is a frequent accompanist for examinations, festivals and concerts, and was the regular accompanist for Burnley Municipal Choir until 2010. She is now pleased to be accompanying Uttoxeter Choral Society. Katie has been teaching the piano privately for over 15 years now, and also teaches at the RNCM Junior School, Altrincham Grammar School for Boys and Manchester High School for Girls.
